Buy Grills

Why would we want to buy grills? We usually have a grill compartment in our cookers, with a grill pan. We can put the food on the grill in the grill pan and grill it until it is ready.

If we bend down and crick our necks we can even see how the food is doing, so we can pull out the pan before the food burns.

Yes, that was the bit, the food burns! There was also the bit about your neck cricking and the other bit about knowing when the grub would be ready.

Did we mention the last bit about trying to clean up the burned on splashes of fat and trying to clean the stuck on bits from the wire grid? No, we didn't really want to remember that bit either!

So, again, why would we want to buy grills? Yes, they sit on the work top where we can see what is happening, but we don't really need to, as they have thermostatic controls and timers, which make sure the food is cooked properly, for just the right time, and is not burned!

As an added bonus, if we manage to get one with removable plates, which will go in the dishwasher, we don't need to go back and face the mess after we have eaten.

One of the main reasons we have for grilling food nowadays is that it is a very healthy way of preparing food, we probably didn't realise when we used to stick the sausages or the welsh rarebit under the grill of the cooker.

Now though, we know that fat is not the best thing we can eat, so grilling is one of the best methods of cooking, as it allows the fat to drain from the food, particularly meat, making grilling a healthy option.

In fact it is so healthy that the British Heart Foundation welcome the support of George Foreman, Celebrity Chef, former sports personality in his his younger days. His support of health charities is of course most welcome and if he can help to improve our health and help health charity while selling his grills, he should only be admired.

George Foreman's colleague on the celebrity chef circuit, Antony Worrall Thompson, is probably better qualified to advise on cooking, as he is a real chef, and a rather amusing sort of chap, whether or not you can stand his shirts.

There is great debate over whether the labels on his own brand sausages really did carry a photograph of Antony Worrall Thompson cooking in his kitchen, captioned with the cooking instructions "prick with a fork"

So, the good and the great of the sports and celebrity chef worlds sell their products by advising us on healthy grilling, should we take notice?

Yes, we should. There is a lot of medical evidence that reducing the fat in our diets is very good for us, specially if that fat comes from meat, which is probably what we most often grill, and red meat in particular.

So, should we buy grills? Yes, we should, they are part of a healthier lifestyle, where grilling is quick and lower in fat.

Should we buy one for ourselves? No, don't be daft, they are ideal gifts!

Should we buy one as a present for someone else? Yes, of course we should, they are ideal gifts!

Are there different styles and types? Yes, browse the different grills on this website for further information. Basically, though, they are infra red contact grills, which allow fat to run off the food being cooked and out of your diet!

There are flat, oblong things, of course, and round things, just choose whichever suits what you think you will use it for. They are just like toastie makers really! Actually could you just make a toastie on one?
